Dare2Lead runs training for Malaysian Embassy in UK

Recently Dare2Lead were delighted to be asked to feature in the ‘Altec’ Leadership Training program in partnership with the Malaysian Embassy.

Inspirational young trainers from Dare2Lead ran and delivered a high-impact and experiential workshop on the ‘Importance of Leadership” and how youth can shape communities on a national and international level. The session involved over 120 young Malaysian students from a range of backgrounds and interests. A range of issues were covered during discussions (which were hard to wrap up!) including creative and values-based leadership, intercultural dialogue, diversity and approaches to education. This unique training course including a touching case study from Dare2Lead former participant and Associate Trainer Francesca Temitope Danmole, from Hackney, who is also involved in the British Youth Council and Commonwealth activities.

Dare2Lead specialises in youth-led training, and bases their training content on real life experience as well as theoretical leadership models. They aim to combine fundamental personal and social development, motivation and self-confidence with harder skills such as public speaking, negotiation skills and political engagement.

The workshop was designed to highlight and provoke innovative thinking around becoming the best version of yourself possible with developing tangible outcomes and goals that the students could take home to Malaysia and implement.

One of the participants commented “I now understand there are many different types of Leadership.”

Normah Abd Hamid, an official from the Malaysian Embassy commented that:
“Feedback from the student(s) has been excellent, Looking forward to working together in the future.”

Director and Founder of Dare2Lead, John Loughton, added “We are delighted to work with the Malaysian Embassy. Strong Commonwealth and international connections are key to empowering young people locally and globally and this exciting new partnership is announced recently after our international leadership work that has rolled out in Sri Lanka, the USA and other European countries. Youth is this planet’s greatest natural asset, and training programmes like this prove that assertion. Dare2Lead are excited to work with the Malaysian Embassy in the future, both here and in Malaysia, and we commend them for their positive vision of youth.”
